How Do You Tell If It's a Chip Repair or a Crack Repair?

Rock Chip Repair:

The rock chip is typically the size of a quarter or smaller, with cracks extending less than 1 inch from the center impact point.

Crack Repair:

The crack is generally larger than a quarter or has one or more cracks extending more than 1.5 inches from the center impact site.

What Is the Cost of a Rock Chip Repair?

Our standard rock chip repair is $55, making it an affordable option for repairing minor windshield damage before it spreads into larger cracks.

What Is the Cost of a Crack Repair?

Crack repair pricing starts at $89.99 + $25 for each inch after the initial 1 inch from impact site. The pricing varies depending on the length of the crack. For the most accurate pricing, please visit our pricing page or contact us to schedule an in-person estimate.

Do You Offer Mobile Repairs?

Yes. We offer convenient mobile repair service, meaning our technician comes directly to your home, workplace, or preferred location within our service areas.

Do You Repair Sunroofs?

Yes. We offer specialized sunroof chip repairs. We use specialized tools designed to repair certain sunroof chips and minor glass damage.

Why Won't Most Companies Fix Chips on Sunroofs?

Most shops avoid repairing sunroof glass because sunroofs are typically made from tempered safety glass, which behaves differently than laminated windshields. Many repair companies do not have the specialized equipment required to attempt these repairs.

Do You Replace Windshields?

No. We specialize exclusively in rock chip and crack repairs designed to help prevent windshield replacement whenever possible.

What Payment Methods Do You Accept?

At $55 Rock Chip Repair – StoneGuard, we offer several convenient payment options for our on-site and mobile windshield repair services.

We accept:

• Cash

• Credit Cards

• Square

• Venmo

**Please note that credit card, Square, and Venmo payments will include applicable sales tax of 4.8% + 3% Credit Card Surcharge**.

We do not accept Cash App, PayPal, Zelle, or trades for services rendered.

Do You Accept Insurance for Rock Chip Repairs?

No. $55 Rock Chip Repair – StoneGuard is an out-of-pocket repair service, meaning we do not process insurance claims. However, we can provide a detailed receipt that you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement decisions depend entirely on your insurance provider and policy coverage.

Do You Offer a Warranty?

No, we do not offer a warranty. Instead, we offer a Failed Repair Guarantee.

If the repair cannot be completed successfully, or if the windshield cracks across the entire glass after the repair attempt, we will refund or not accept payment — no questions asked so you can put that money toward a windshield replacement.

We take pride in operating with honesty and integrity. If we believe a windshield replacement is the better option, we will tell you upfront rather than performing a repair that is unlikely to succeed. *Please note we do Not offer windshield replacement services - We specialize exclusively in rock chip and crack repairs designed to help prevent windshield replacement*

Do I Need to Wash My Car Before My Repair?

No. Please do not wash your vehicle or go through a car wash before your repair appointment. Moisture trapped inside a rock chip or crack can interfere with the repair process and may cause resin resistance, bubbling, or temperature-related curing issues.

For best results, we also recommend avoiding car washes for 24 hours after your repair to allow the seal to fully adhere to the windshield.

How Soon After My Repair Can I Go Through a Car Wash?

We recommend waiting at least 24 hours after the repair before going through an automated car wash to allow the repair resin to fully cure.

Why Don’t You Have a Physical Shop at Your Sandy Location?

$55 Rock Chip Repair – StoneGuard operates primarily as a mobile windshield repair service, allowing us to bring professional rock chip repair directly to customers across many service areas.

Bottom line, by not operating a traditional brick-and-mortar auto glass shop, we are able to keep overhead costs low and pass those savings on to our customers through affordable repair pricing.

**Our Sandy location operates weather permitting, while our Saratoga Springs location is available for repairs in all-weather conditions.

Are You Really Open 24/7?

Yes. We offer 24/7 availability for windshield repair services.

Please note that late-night and after-hours appointments may have increased pricing. For full details, please see our pricing page.
